ortzikara says it all...

a gem-of-a-word was stumbled upon just now:

"ortzikara is Basque and means 'time when a storm is brewing' or in Spanish 'tiempo amenazado por la tormenta'. Do any other languages have a single word to express this meaning?" (see this blog for more).

basque is that notoriously mysterious language spoken in a northern province in spain. actually, the entire province is rather out of this world. i feel like everything there is insanely old and...well...mysterious. on sunday i read a short story by dorothy sayers that took place in basque-land. it was eery. i feel like there is some massive, undiscovered secret there.

and i want to discover it.
